Volt appoints Gabriel de Montessus as Non-Executive Director
Volt, the open payments platform, today announced the appointment of Gabriel de Montessus as Non-Executive Director. de Montessus will serve on Volt’s board and advise its leadership team as the company builds on its proposition.
A payment industry leader with more than 20 years of experience, de Montessus was the CEO of Ingenico ePayments before its merger with Worldline in 2020, and is now Group President and Head of International Merchant Solutions at FIS.
The Volt team has assembled the most senior industry professionals in executive and non-executive positions. Chairman, Robert Kraal, was on the founding team and COO of Adyen before founding Silverflow, and its CEO, Tom Greenwood, previously founded fintech payments business IFX Payments.
Volt’s platform allows merchants and PSPs to initiate direct payments between accounts held at more than 4,500 banks across the UK and EU using Open Banking. Their unique operating model places them as the “Payments Orchestration Layer” for new-generation open payments.
Their gateway aggregates the strongest network providers in each geography to create an unrivalled connectivity grid, as they work to operationalise the PSD2 API interface to a single and simple point of access.
Open Banking is not in fact a payment method but a full functional scheme, with multi-currency, multi-clearing and functional variation across the network. Volt abstracts complex Third Party Provider functionality and processes to deliver a unified payments experience.
Gabriel de Montessus comments: “Volt has made outstanding progress in building the leading open payments gateway in the UK and continental Europe. I look forward to working with Tom and the team as the company builds upon its early successes and expands its payments platform and offering.”
Tom Greenwood, CEO at Volt, comments: “Gabriel has a broad experience in digital industries and a deep understanding of payments. He is positive, energetic and entrepreneurial. We are delighted to welcome someone of Gabriel’s outstanding experience to the Volt team and board.”
